YouthBuild Waukegan serves about 100 young adults, annually. Participants complete high school, earn credentials in construction and IT and give back through affordable housing, community gardening, and conservation projects. Grant addresses gaps left by suspension of AmeriCorps funding while helping to grow the labor pool for those in the trades.

In support of the community’s economic need for more highly skilled tradespeople, the Foundation Board approved scholarships grants for students who opt for post-high school paths in trades certification, apprenticeships, etc.. This program was administered through Barrington High School.

A direct services organization connecting homeless and low income individuals with case management for housing assistance, nutritious food, education and wrap around services, Northwest Compass, Inc is launching a new program for at risk youth. This grant supports a pilot program to connect these youth with post-secondary training opportunities.

The EAP was established to assist an exceptional graduating student from a Lake County high school who would not be able to further his/her education without financial assistance. The EAP of up to $25,000 annually is being administered by Elmhurst College for the payment of tuition, fees, R&B, and books (less any other grants, awards, scholarships of funding received by the recipient) for attendance at Elmhurst College.
