Many students living in Chicago’s south and west side neighborhoods rarely have access to fresh, local produce and have little knowledge about where their food comes from. GCM’s Edible Education programming helps fill this knowledge gap through its Club Sprouts and Farm to Market Field Trips. In both programs, students and children are able to directly engage with the farmers and producers at GCM’s farmers’ markets to better understand our local food system and the importance of supporting those who power it.
